Pagcor Christmas gift-giving to benefit poor
MANILA, Philippines - About 9,000 poor Filipinos are set to benefit from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.’s (Pagcor) P12-million Christmas gift-giving project this year.
Maricar Bautista, Pagcor assistant vice president for corporate communications, said the “Pamaskong Handog ng Pagcor 2010-12 Days of Christmas” project will benefit orphans, abandoned children, elderly, cancer patients, inmates, special children, persons with disabilities, babies suffering from hydrocephalus, and retired and wounded soldiers.
“Pagcor is giving priority to institutions that are not receiving much help,” she said.
Speaking to reporters, Bautista said from Dec. 9 to 20, Pagcor will conduct the gift-giving activity in 24 charitable institutions in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Pagcor officials and employees will visit this morning some 700 street children at the Our Lady of Peace Mission in San Dionisio, Parañaque, she said.
In the afternoon, they will bring gifts to 300 street children at the Childhope Asia Philippines in Paco, Manila, she said.
