MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government and an architectural group will hold a design competition for a low-cost, disaster-resilient housing community for poor residents.
Last week, the United Architects of the Philippines signed an agreement with the local government to launch the Design Against the Elements.
The judging will be from this week up to January next year.
The winning entries will be announced in February.
Participants must design a complete housing community that is sustainable to build and can withstand the rigors of typhoons and massive flooding.
Mayor Herbert Bautista said the winning design will be used as a prototype for socialized housing communities in Quezon City.
Interested parties can contact Monica Marcelo of the Quezon City Communications Coordination Center at 444-7272 local 1209 to 1210.
