BOC, HGC execs face raps over undeclared assets

MANILA, Philippines - The Office of the Ombudsman ordered a Bureau of Customs (BOC) official and ano­ther from the Home Guarantee Corp. (HGC) charged for failing to disclose all their properties in their statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALNs).

Both officials are accused of omitting assets they are required to declare under Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

The Ombudsman said BOC operations officer Pier Angeli Sealtiel allegedly failed to declare her Tagaytay lot; two lots and an apartment in Parañaque City, which her husband co-owns with other Sealtiel relatives; and a Tagum City property she inherited from her parents.

The Ombudsman also ordered the filing of similar charges against HGC department manager Jimmy Lambunao, along with three counts of perjury.

Lambunao allegedly failed to declare three vehicles worth P1.31 million; a P1.8-million lot in Marikina City; state the actual acquisition cost of three lots in Marikina City, a lot in Tagaytay City, and a lot in Rodriguez Rizal; and file his SALN in 2004, the year he availed himself of the HGC’s early separation incentive program.
