Caloocan cracks down on substandard Christmas décor

MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan City government directed yesterday its law enforcement unit to seize substandard Christmas lights and décor to protect the safety of the residents.

Mayor Enrico Echiverri said residents prefer to buy cheap Christmas lights without considering that these are fire hazards.

He warned traders to refrain from selling cheap, substandard Christmas lights and décor or risk the revocation of their business license.

“Just follow the law so that our businesses and the lives of other people won’t be put at risk,” Echiverri said.

Echiverri also urged residents to buy only items with government-certified PS or Product Safety markings.
