Car theft gang leader, cohorts nabbed

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested the suspected leader of a car theft gang and one of his men in two separate places in Pasay City yesterday.

Allan Aristorenas and his man, Robert Bonzon did not resist when police cornered them in their hideout on Maricaban and M. Reyes streets in Pasay City.

Police swooped down on the safe house in the company of gang member Felimon Borillo.

Police arrested Borillo and another gang man, Jeffrey Martinez after a brief car chase along East Service Road in Barangay Marcelo Green in Parañaque.

Borillo and Martinez yielded two 12-gauge shotguns and a white Montero Sports forcibly taken from a motorist along C-5 Road in Libis, Quezon City on Friday.

Metro Manila police commander Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome said the arrest of Aristorenas and the three gang men has crippled the Bundol Gang.

“We need to account other members of the gang and that’s the direction we are taking,” he said.

Aristorenas and his three men were identified by their three victims during a face-to-face confrontation.

The Bundol Gang has been involved in the 12 cases of car theft this year, according to Superintendent Remus Medina, National Capital Region Police Office regional police intelligence and operations unit commander.

Based on information from the gang, police recovered a black Nissan Safari Patrol along Sandejas street in Pasay City and a black Toyota Fortuner at the parking lot of a public market in Moriones street in Tondo, Manila.

Police are preparing charges of carnapping, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms against Aristorenas, Bonzon, Borillo and Martinez.

They are now under the custody of the Parañaque police.
