Philpost honors 5 National Artists

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Postal Corp. (Philpost) will release today special stamps featuring five National Artists.

In a statement, Philpost said it will honor actor Fernando Poe Jr., literary giant Nick Joaquin, historian Carlos Quirino, performing artist Leonor Orosa Goquingco and musician Levi Celerio in its postal stamps.

The stamps would be issued at 10 a.m. today at the lobby of the Philpost Central Office in time for the celebration of Philpost’s 227th anniversary.

Poe’s widow, actress Susan Roces, and daughter Movie, Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chair Mary Grace Poe-Llamanzares will launch and open the stamp exhibit for the National Stamp Collecting Month (NSCM).

There will only be 100,000 pieces of these “special” stamps, priced at P7. Limited-edition souvenir sheets will also be sold.

The design was coordinated by Dr. Ngo Tiong Tak, Llamanzares and Elenita San Diego of PhilPost.
