NPD checks 1,900 cops' readiness

- Pete Laude -

MANILA, Philippines - The Northern Police District (NPD), in coordination with the Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS), inspected yesterday the readiness and firepower of its police force in Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela (Camanava) area.

NPD director Senior Superintendent Edgardo Ladao and PNP-IAS deputy chief Director Ipor Magbanua spearheaded the inspection team in the evaluation of the 1,900 local police force of Camanava.

“This is just a normal annual inspection of police personnel to check their readiness in responding to any eventuality. It has nothing to do with the reported terrorist threats in the metropolis,” Superintendent Rio Gatacilo, NPD public information office chief, told The STAR when asked of the mass gathering of the cops at the NPD Headquarters in Caloocan City.

He said that yesterday’s assessment of preparedness and firepower of the NPD cops was part of the regular Annual General Inspection-Operational Readiness, Security Inspection Test and Evaluation program of the PNP.

“Despite intelligence reports of terrorist threats in other parts of Metro Manila, here in Camanava everything is peaceful but we are not letting our guard down,” Gatacilo said.
