Metro tourist cops deployed

MANILA, Philippines – Policemen were deployed yesterday in various parts of Metro Manila to secure foreign tourists.

Metro Manila police commander Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome said the deployment of the “tourist police” is part of his commitment to make Metro Manila “tourist-friendly.”

The deployed policemen cover two 12-hour shifts, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Police are deployed in Mandaluyong, Pasay City and Manila, including the vicinities of SM Mall of Asia, Intramuros, Adriatico Street, UP Manila, Divisoria, Binondo and Roxas Boulevard,” Bartolome said.
