New BI card features Belo ad

MANILA, Philippines - The new immigration arrival-departure cards currently circulating at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals feature controversial beauty consultant Vicki Belo.

The new card shows Belo in her signature white medical gown.

“Present this coupon at any Belo Medical Group clinic and get a 10 percent discount on non-surgical procedures and liposuction,” the fine print on the card stated.

The reverse side of the card features an advertisement for Microtel Hotel and Resorts and Mall of Asia.

President Aquino was irked after seeing his photograph on the BI card when he left for New York last Sept. 20. He immediately ordered his image removed from the card.

As of yesterday, the 30-member Airline Operations Council (AOC), said that millions of copies of the new card were distributed and airlifted to their various headquarters around the world.

The AOC said the combined consumption of the airlines amount to about one million copies a month.

“Usually, a six-month advance order is printed and distributed to all the AOC members,” according to the group’s officer, who requested anonymity.
