MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista formally signed on Monday a memorandum of agreement with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to put up an OFW help desk in the city.
Carlo Magno Abella, officer-in-charge of the city Public Employment Service Office (PESO), said the operation of the new OFW help desk will become part of the regular program of the city government to help its constituents.
Abella said that residents whose family members are working abroad need not go to the OWWA office at Pasay City to ask for help or assistance once the OFW help desk is formally opened.
Anna Liza Estrada, OWWA family welfare officer, said the help desk will be open every Wednesday at the PESO office.
After Quezon City, Estrada said OWWA is also planning to set up other help desks in different places in Metro Manila.
