MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan City government yesterday urged local residents to take part in the ongoing Tourism Month celebration to help attract more tourists and investors.
Mayor Enrico Echiverri said that it is important to boost tourism in the city “as this would enliven up everything in Caloocan,” which would convince traders to come over and establish business in the city.
“It is imperative that we should strengthen our local tourism for it is one way to boost our economy,” Echiverri said.
The mayor also encouraged barangay leaders to showcase their “unique products” to help invite more local and foreign tourists who may become interested in investing on them.
Echiverri urged barangay officials to initiate free seminars and livelihood projects that would benefit their constituents.
Among the highlights of the Tourism Month activities is the holding of band competition participated in by the different bands in Caloocan, Malabon and Valenzuela, Echiverri said.
Also being featured are martial arts practitioners who are winning the crowd’s admiration while a group of ati-atihan dancers made rounds in the city together with their bands.
