13-year-old boy, woman commit suicide in QC
MANILA, Philippines - Two persons, one of them a 13-year-old boy, reportedly committed suicide in Quezon City since Friday night.
The boy allegedly hanged himself after his father scolded him for pestering his sister yesterday morning.
The victim, a fourth-grade pupil of Tatalon Elementary School, was discovered hanging in the family home along Kaliraya street in Barangay Tatalon by his younger sister at around 8 a.m., the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) records show.
Police Officer 1 Hermogenes Capili said the seven-year-old girl saw her brother hanging from a wooden beam with a nylon rope looped around his neck.
Capili said the victim’s father caught the boy fighting with his sister outside the house at around 7 a.m. The sister was crying because the boy allegedly kicked her.
The father allegedly dragged the boy back home, pulling him by his ear, and told the boy not to go out of the house. The girl discovered his body when she went home.
Capili said the victim was rushed to the Delos Santos Medical Center but died at around 10 a.m.
In another suicide incident, a 44-year-old woman jumped to her death from an apartment building her family owned in Barangay Kaunlaran Friday night.
Aileen Brigida, of PYP Mansion 1, died after jumping from the fourth floor parking area of the building. PO3 Randy Bantillo said the incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Witness Florencio de Guzman, the building’s maintenance man, told police he was at the ground floor fetching water when he heard a loud thud behind him. When he checked, he saw the woman sprawled on the ground.
The victim’s family driver, Magdalino Liwanag, told police that Brigida was still breathiing when he rushed her to the St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Liwanag asked the victim what happened and Brigida allegedly told him that she wanted to die. Brigida died while being taken to the hospital, said Bantillo.
