MANILA, Philippines - The Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Intramuros, Manila received yesterday morning a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax, disrupting classes for the whole day.
Chief Inspector Erwin Margarejo, spokesman of the Manila Police District (MPD), said the school’s security office received a bomb threat from an unidentified caller at around 9 a.m.
Margarejo said because of the bomb threat, the school had decided to suspend the classes for the whole day in order to assure the safety of the students and school workers.
Police officers from the Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD) were deployed in the area as they ordered the evacuation of all students from the premises.
After having bomb-sniffing dogs go through the whole compound, police came up empty-handed. “There was no bomb. It was a prank,” Margarejo said.
