Fraternity of student who killed teacher warns of next victim
MANILA, Philippines - Teachers of Manuel L. Quezon High School in Caloocan City sought the help of the local police Tuesday after the fraternity of a student accused of murdering his teacher reportedly warned of a next victim.
“We learned from our students that the suspect’s fraternity warned that somebody would follow. We fear for we don’t know who they are and because of what happened to our fellow teacher a few days ago,” an MLQHS teacher, requesting anonymity, told The STAR.
At least two co-teachers of Teodora Soner, 34, the disciplinary officer of MLQ high who was stabbed dead by her student as she was about to enter the school around 5:30 a.m. Friday, was sent by their principal Ferdinand de Leon to seek the assistance of city police chief Senior Superintendent Jude Santos.
According to the teachers, they were “shocked” by what happened to Soner, whom they described as “kind and considerate” upon learning that she was attacked and killed by her own student, said to be a member of the Temple Street Trece fraternity.
“We heard of that group only after our co-teacher was killed but we feel their threat to us is real,” another teacher said.
Santos immediately sent Tuesday two police officers supported by a marked police patrol vehicle to provide security to the MLQ High School teachers and faculty from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., or after all the employees left the school campus.
The teachers maintained that the boy got irritated when Soner told him to have a proper haircut or he would be expelled from his classes. This prompted the boy to attack and kill the teacher, they said. – With Perseus Echeminada
