MANILA, Philippines - A teenager was beaten up and stabbed by a group of men in Quezon City Sunday night after he asked for his money back when he returned a defective DVD he had bought.
Jomar Pechares, 18, of North Fairview, sustained a stab wound in the back and a head injury when he was hit on the head with a stone.
Police Officer 3 Danilo Tuscano said Pechares was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center following the incident that took place at around 7:30 p.m. in front of a supermarket in Barangay Kaligayahan.
Tuscano said that they have yet to identify the vendor and the seven other men said to be involved in the incident.
Prior to this, the victim had bought a pirated DVD from outside the supermarket. But he returned the same title twice after the vendor kept giving him defective copies.
The victim and the vendor argued when Pechares demanded his money back. Seven other men beat Pechares then fled.
Pechares’ sister, who was with him at the time, rushed him to the hospital.
