Female trader shot dead in Novaliches

MANILA, Philippines - A female trader was shot dead in her neighborhood in Novaliches, Quezon City Saturday night.

Regina Morilla, 49, of Barangay Gulod, died on the spot following the shooting incident that took place at around 7:30 p.m.

She sustained a fatal gunshot wound in the back of her head with the bullet exiting the left side of her forehead.

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Norlan Margallo said they have yet to identify the suspect behind the killing. Bystanders tried chasing the gunman but he started firing in their direction, prompting them to stop. Witnesses described the suspect as 5’9” in height and wearing a cap, a white t-shirt and a pair of jeans.

Margallo said they are still investigating the motive behind the attack.

The victim was said to be walking when she was approached by the suspect, who suddenly shot her from behind without warning. After the victim fell, the suspect casually walked away.
