Tricycle driver shot dead
MANILA, Philippines - A 39-year-old tricycle driver was shot dead by an unidentified armed man clad in bonnet in Taguig City yesterday morning while waiting for passengers.
Police Officer 2 (PO2) Roger Aquilesca said the victim, Ramil Pacia, a resident of Block 12, Lot 29, Dianio street, Purok 3, Upper Bicutan, sustained two gunshot wounds in the head and died on the spot.
Police said the suspect fled on foot after shooting the victim.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim was waiting for passengers at the corner of J.P. Rizal and Bonifacio street in Upper Bicutan when the bonnet-clad suspect suddenly approached him, pulled his gun and shot him at around 7:45 a.m.
Barangay Kagawad Delia Kusin told probers that she heard the shot while she was inside her house located near the crime scene prompting her to check and saw the suspect wearing a black bonnet carrying a firearm, fleeing on foot while the victim was slumped on the ground bloodied.
Prior to the incident, the victim was engaged in a verbal tussle with an unidentified man on a motorcycle.
Police recovered an empty shell of a .38 caliber.
Police are still trying to determine the motive in the killing.
