LTO chief bats for online car registration

MANILA, Philippines - Land Transportation Office chief Virginia Torres is in favor of implementing an online registration of motor vehicles to eliminate the problem of fixing at LTO.

In a speech during the general membership meeting of the Philippine Finance Association at the InterContinental Hotel in Makati, Torres said it has been her dream to fully automate all the transaction process at the LTO to drive away fixers.

“I know that the automation process would make our services comparable with other countries,” Torres said.

Torres said she would also try to work out a system to lay down the groundwork for the implementation of a computerized motor vehicle registration process. – Jose Rodel Clapano, Rainier Allan Ronda
