Caloocan promotes 'barangay tourism'
MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan City government announced yesterday the installation of tourism officers in every barangay as part of its efforts to promote local historical spots to domestic and foreign tourists.
Mayor Enrico Echiverri said in a statement tapping independent tourism officers for each barangay is unique and the first of its kind in the Philippines.
One of the historic places in Caloocan is Andres Bonifacio’s monument.
The city has newly-opened resorts and other places of leisure, Echiverri pointed out.
He said all of the 118 newly-installed barangay tourism officers will hold a meeting on Monday in order to plan and coordinate their respective cultural presentations.
