Soldier uses sword to solve traffic row
MANILA, Philippines – A member of the Philippine Army is facing criminal charges for allegedly threatening a jeepney driver with a katana, a type of sword popularized by the Japanese, during a traffic altercation in Pasay City Tuesday.
Police said jeepney driver Rey Aspe was moving slowly along EDSA at about 3 p.m. when Pfc Michael Autor allegedly rear-ended him.
Aspe said when he got out to check his vehicle, Autor confronted him, armed with the sword. Aspe said he ran away from Autor and sought the help of a police officers who were approaching them.
Autor will face charges of grave threat and illegal possession of a deadly weapon before the Pasay City prosecutor’s office, police said.
