MANILA, Philippines – A rookie police officer is in trouble after he reportedly rear-ended a car owned by a retired bank employee then fled from the scene of the collision along E. Rodriguez Avenue in Quezon City Monday night.
Police Officer 1 Roberto Bajog of the Eastwood Police Station, who drove a Toyota Vios police car (SJA-702), has been disarmed and held in restricted custody by superior officers for running away from the crime scene.
Victim Elizabeth Javier, whose Toyota Crown (UHA-243) was damaged during the collision, filed a complaint before the police. Records show Bajog rear-ended Javier’s car but instead of stopping, he allegedly sped away, prompting Javier to report to the nearest police station.
Authorities immediately ordered all police cars to report to Police Station 12 in Eastwood City, Libis, Quezon City. There, Javier positively identified Bajog, who promised to pay for the damages to Javier’s car.
Officials promised to subject Bajog to “disciplinary action” after the investigation is completed.
