Reporter robbed, nearly raped in Las Piñas

MANILA, Philippines – A female reporter told police an unidentified robber beat her up and tried to rape her at a vacant lot in Las Piñas City Thursday night.

Lordeth Bonilla, 45, of Pilipino Star Ngayon, said she took a shortcut and was walking home when a man attacked and dragged her to an open field near Portofino Village in Barangay Almanza Dos at about 7:30 p.m.

“He punched me several times and then told me to give up my belongings. He also threatened to slit my neck. After that he kissed me and touched my private parts,” said an emotional Bonilla.

“I thought it was the end of me. I really thought I was going to die,” she added.

Bonilla said she fought back and was even able to tear the man’s clothes. But she became afraid after the assailant, while attacking her, kept looking around for his alleged cohort. “I was scared that somebody might just pop out from behind and stab me dead,” she said.

According to Bonilla, the man was able to take her P20,000 diamond bracelet, her two cellular phones worth P18,000, and P5,000 cash.

She said the unidentified robber fled after seeing a passerby. However, she said the passerby ran away when she asked for help.

Bonilla said a security guard from Portofino Village also refused to heed her request for help. “I just asked a tricycle driver to take me to the nearest police station,” she said.

According to police, robbery and attempted rape incidents are rampant in the area. Most of the victims are from Molino, Bacoor, where Bonilla is a resident.

Police are looking for the robber.
