Thieves strike at GSIS building

-

Burglars slipped into the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) building in Pasay City and carted away P16,000 worth of mobile phones Friday, police said yesterday.

Police said the thieves broke into the material management department at the fifth floor of the GSIS Financial Center building along Roxas Boulevard between 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

Maria Luisa Natividad, one of two employees who lost a cellular phone to the burglars, reported the incident. The other victim was identified as Marissa Enano.

Senior Police Officer 1 Cris Gabutin and PO3 Simon Respicio Jr. reported that the burglars forced open at least nine cubicles and tried but failed to open the office’s steel cabinets and the mini-vault.

They said that during the burglary, there was only one security guard detailed at the building’s fifth floor, and the area’s closed-circuit television camera was not functioning because the office was under renovation.
