Cemetery dweller killed inside vacant tomb in Malabon
MANILA, Philippines - A man who slept with his live in partner inside a vacant niche at a public cemetery in Tugatog, Malabon City was shot and killed by a group of men Monday dawn police report said yesterday.
The man who was only identified as “Alias Rambo” with his 17-year-old live-in partner, Rose Albert, according to police report were sleeping inside a vacant niche when they were attacked by five men believed to be the original occupants of the vacant tomb.
The report said one of the men approached the sleeping couple and shot Rambo with a pen gun pointblank. Rambo reportedly woke up and tried to fight the intruder, however, the four men who were armed with knives repeatedly stabbed the victim until he slumped to the ground.
After attacking Rambo, the suspects fled on foot. Other cemetery dwellers rushed the victim to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
Police are still establishing the real identity of the victim and his assailants.
Investigators theorized that the attack was an offshoot of dispute over the vacant tomb in the cemetery which has become favorite target of informal settlers in the city.
