Phone firm executive loses P.6 million in burglary

MANILA, Philippines - A telephone firm supervisor lost P600,000 in jewelry and cash to burglars who broke into his house in Malabon City Sunday.

Chief Inspector Realito Esperida, chief of the Malabon City police station investigation and detective management branch, said Rogelio Domingo, 57, supervisor of Electronic Telephone System Inc., also lost his bankbooks and ATM cards to the robbers.

Domingo and his family left their house on Road 2, M. Sioson street in Barangay Dampalit at around 10 a.m. to visit a daughter who had just given birth at a hospital in Manila.

When the family returned at about 2 p.m., they found the gate and the main door open, the locks destroyed.

Senior Police Officer 2 Ferdinand Espiritu, Malabon City police investigator, said none of the Domingos’ neighbors noticed anything unusual in the victims’ house at the time they were not around.

Police theorized the burglars could have timed their break in at 12 noon when the Domingos’ neighbors were having lunch.

Chief Inspector Alberto Arturo of the Northern Police District Scene of the Crime Operatives processed the crime scenes for any latent prints the burglars may have left. Pete Laude
