MANILA, Philippines - A suspected robber was arrested after he and his three companions allegedly engaged a law enforcer in a brief shootout Monday night, police said yesterday.
Police Officer 2 Fernildo de Castro said traffic enforcer Jesus Velasquez spotted two women shouting that they were allegedly robbed by suspect Rexy Batiancila and three others.
Batiancila shot at but missed Velasquez, who was chasing them as they fled towards Antipolo street. Batiancila was cornered in the said area, while his cohorts fled in different directions. He yielded an 11-inch kitchen knife. The suspect was brought to Pasay City Police Headquarters for further investigation.
