MANILA, Philippines - The Navotas city government declared yesterday the success of the employment of 150 deserving students under the governments’ Special Program for the Employment of the Students (SPES).
Mayor-elect John Rey Tiangco met with the 150 students who were assigned in the different departments of the city government as clerks, encoders, liaison officers, aides, and perform other auxiliary jobs.
He said the students received the existing minimum wage, wherein the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) provided for 40 percent and the city government shouldered the remaining 60 percent.
Outgoing Mayor Toby Tiangco said this program “aims to instill in the minds of our young Navoteños the importance and value of hard work and to make use of their vacation constructively. We see to it that only the most needy and qualified will be accepted in the program.”
