Passenger shoots cabbie in Pasay
MANILA, Philippines - A taxi driver sustained multiple gunshot wounds after a still unidentified passenger shot him in Pasay city, police said yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 2 Leo Labrador and SPO1 Faustino Erlano said that according to witnesses, the cabbie was visibly arguing with his passenger when they passed the corner of Cuneta and Park Avenue at around 9:14 p.m. Monday.
Witnesses said they then heard two gunshots from the Sar-quez taxi (PVP-200). The passenger alighted from the vehicle and shot at a certain Leonardo Marin and took Marin’s motorcycle, which was later found abandoned at the parking area of a bank along Roxas Boulevard.
The taxi driver was rushed to the hospital. Attending physician Lindon Cassico said the victim sustained three gunshot wounds – two in the abdomen and one in the right arm.
When police officers arrived at the hospital, the victim was reportedly still unconscious.
Police have yet to identify both the victim and the suspect.
