MANILA, Philippines - Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim yesterday ordered officials to ensure that the opportunity for “peeping toms” to operate in dormitories, bed spacing establishments, apartelles and other temporary shelters for students is eliminated.
Lim directed the Manila Police District officers to immediately file a case of unjust vexation against Renante Diamola, reportedly a Malacañang employee, for allegedly peeping on a female boarder.
Lim said no action will be taken against the dormitory or its owner, as he believes Diamola was acting on his own. The mayor also directed city administrator Jay Marzan to talk to the dormitory owner and make sure that the same crime does not happen at the establishment again.
Lim directed the city hall inspectors, who are checking dormitories, to be on the lookout for holes in walls and other possible peeping tom “schemes.”
Lim said boys and girls should not be housed in the same dormitory.
He also ordered city hall authorities to check proper ventilation, necessary number of fire exits, proper segregation of male and female boarders, as well as sanitation facilities.
