4 'Akyat Bahay' arrested
MANILA, Philippines - Four of five suspected robbers were collared by the Quezon City Police District cops after robbing a cellphone outlet twice in three days by the same members of an Akyat-Bahay Gang in Veterans Village in Quezon City, police authorities reported yesterday.
Police identified the arrested suspects as Romnick Paulino, 22; Alfredo Lacambra, 23; Jason Borja, 24, all of Crame street; and Patrick Cawili, 20 of Maj. Marcos st, Area 2, all of Barangay Pasong Tamo, Veterans Village, Quezon City.
A fifith suspect who eluded arrest was identified only as a certain “Dennis.”
Items stolen by the group included 19 cellphones worth some P30,000 and a laptop worth P15,000 belonging to Daliva and six central processing units (CPUs) worth some P150,000, an LCD monitor worth P7,000, an automatic voltage regulator and a standfan belonging to Plazo.
In other developments, three police officers and two civilians were charged for their alleged involvement in motorcycle thefts in the northern part of Metro Manila and its adjacent localities.
Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao Jr., Northern Police District director, said charged with carnapping and violation of the anti-fencing law was PO1 Sherwin Lacanienta, assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office in Taguig.
PO1 Arison Arid and PO1 Edgardo Marigsa Jr., both undergoing on the job training at the Caloocan City police station, were facing administrative charges for allegedly buying two stolen motorcycles from Lacanienta. – Jerry Botial, Pete Laude
