MANILA, Philippines - Police are hunting down six teenagers, including a Sangguniang Kabataan chairman, for ganging up, and beating to death a fellow teenager in Pasig City yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Jessie Cardona, Pasig City police chief said a witness Vincent Pascual, 19, positively identified Dennis Ornachos, SK chairman of barangay Buting, as one of the attackers of the victim, Jester Arellano, 22.
Cardona admitted they have not yet identified Ornachos’ companions but said several police teams are now going after them.
Arellano sustained head and body injuries and died while being rushed to the Rizal Medical Center.
Police investigator PO3 Fernan Clemente said Pascual and Arellano were walking along the stretch of Santos St., in Barangay Sumilang at about 3:30 a.m. yesterday when Ornachos and his companions, on board a vehicle, blocked their path. Ornachos and his companions rushed out of the vehicle, each holding a piece of wood and approached them.
Pascual said Ornachos hit Arellano with a butt of a handgun in the head causing the victim to become dizzy. It was at this juncture when the suspects took turns in hitting Arellano with a piece of wood in the head and different parts of the body until he fell on the ground bleeding.
Pascual told Clemente, he tried to intervene but the suspects also attacked him.
After realizing that Arellano lost his consciousness, the suspects boarded their car and sped off.
