Calixto siblings win in Pasay
MANILA, Philippines - Outgoing Pasay City Vice Mayor Antonino Calixto and his sister, Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, were proclaimed yesterday as the winners of the city’s mayoral and congressional races.
Calixto of the Liberal Party got 59,087 votes as against rival Connie Dy of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino, who earned 56,576 votes. Landing in the third spot was outgoing Mayor Wenceslao Trinidad of the Nationalista Party with 46,178 votes.
For the vice mayoral race, Dy’s running mate, Marlon Pesebre, was proclaimed winner. Pesebre got 58,942 votes while rivals Noel Bayona garnered 32,826 votes and Greg Alcera, 31,776 votes.
Rubiano earned 66,443 votes to unseat re-electionist Rep. Jose Antonio Roxas.
“My opponents are all good. It was a close fight. I was just lucky to have been declared winner,” Calixto told his supporters following his proclamation at the Cuneta Astrodome yesterday afternoon.
Trinidad earlier conceded defeat and said he will devote his time to his family and other personal matters.
