3 brods tagged in laborer's slay

MANILA, Philippines - Three brothers were implicated in the killing of a construction worker in Quezon City on Saturday night after the son of the victim, who witnessed the attack, pointed to the brothers and a purported cohort. The eldest of the brothers, Noel Cutamora, 32, said to have stabbed victim Rozel Michael Javier, remains at large but his two younger brothers are now behind bars and claimed they knew nothing about the killing.

Cutamora’s brothers, John Bert, 21, and Jayker, 28, and a friend of theirs, Roland Gumopas, 27, said they are innocent.

Javier, a 38-year-old construction worker living in Barangay Commonwealth, sustained multiple stab wounds in the body and died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday while being treated at the East Avenue Medical Center.

Village watchmen arrested three of the suspects the same night in the MRB Compound after the victim’s son, Kerbie Keith, 17, identified the three as the same persons who allegedly beat up his father at around 9 p.m. Kerbie told police that he and his father were at an eatery in the area along with the suspects.

As they were waiting for the meal they had ordered, the victim told his son that they should leave because he sensed something amiss with the suspects, who have been staring at them. When the father and son left, the suspects also stood up and followed them.

The suspects managed to catch up with Javier whom they allegedly surrounded and beat up as the son watched helplessly from a distance.

While the victim was being beaten, Noel allegedly pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed Javier. The group reportedly left using Noel’s tricycle as Kerbie brought his father to the hospital.
