NPD to open poll communications center
MANILA, Philippines - The Northern Police District will open an election and media communications center for the May 10 polls to better respond to any election-related concerns.
NPD director Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao Jr. said his command would provide the Joint Security Control Center (JSCC), headed by a Commission on Elections (Comelec) officer, working space within the headquarters.
Reporters covering the Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela poll exercise would also be given their own workplace, complete with communications equipment, where they could easily communicate with the local Comelec officers and police officials.
Pagdilao said the JSCC would also be using an Internet social networking site such as Facebook, apart from the common telephone lines.
Residents could course through their election related concerns using these facilities.
The JSCC, composed of the police, the Comelec, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), the Department of Education (DepEd), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), would meet again tomorrow at the NPD headquarters to finalize plans for these projects.
