Villanueva supporters to form human chain

- Evelyn Macairan -

MANILA, Philippines - With only 10 days to go before the national elections, a youth group supporting Bangon Pilipinas Party (BPP) standard bearer Eduardo “Bro. Eddie” Villanueva said they will have 20,000 youths form a “human chain” along Roxas Boulevard in Manila this afternoon.

BPP’s youth-arm Bangon Kabataan (BK) chairman Emil Galang said May 1 would be the “biggest youth gathering ever assembled for one presidential candidate in the history of the Philippines.”

Villanueva and the entire BPP ticket’s supporters, between the ages of 18 and 35, would wear the party’s signature yellow gold shirts.

Galang said they have already secured the necessary permits from the city governments of Manila and Pasay and coordinated with the law enforcement agencies to ensure that the event would be peaceful and orderly and they would not cause a traffic buildup.

Afterward, there would be a prayer rally and “Concert for CHANGE” (Credible, Honest, Accurate, Non-partisan, Gold-Goon-and-Gun-free Elections) at the Rizal Park. Volunteer artists such as Gary Valenciano, Gloc-9, Jun Polistico, Reuben Laurente, Carla Martinez, and Donita Rose would entertain the crowd.

Asked why they are supporting Villanueva, Galang said that among all the presidential aspirants, Villanueva is the only one who has the credibility to make a commitment to six years of zero-corruption in government.

“Only Bro. Eddie can have the audacity to make such a promise and actually fulfill it because he is not beholden to anyone except God and the Filipino people,” he said.
