Top Manila drug suspect arrested
MANILA, Philippines - Manila’s most notorious drug pushing suspect, reportedly responsible for the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city, was arrested over the weekend in an entrapment operation in Tondo.
Antonio Mamucod, alias “Tony Bagsik,” 57, of Yuseco street in Tondo, has been on the police’s most wanted list for his alleged drug-dealing activities.
Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim has issued an ultimatum to Jose Abad Santos police station chief Superintendent Remigio Sedanto to put a stop to Mamucod’s alleged illegal activities or face relief.
Sedanto tapped his intelligence network and directed the station’s anti-drug chief Inspector Arturo de la Cruz to set up a buy-bust operation and catch the suspect in the act of selling drugs.
According to reports, an undercover police officer was able to purchase P500 worth of shabu from Mamucod Saturday. After getting the marked money, policemen posted nearby arrested Mamucod. Recovered from his possession were four heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu of undetermined weight.
Sedanto said he is still awaiting the results of the laboratory tests on the recovered samples, as charges of violation of the anti-drug law are being prepared against the suspect.
“Definitely there will be a marked decrease in the supply of shabu here in Tondo with the arrest of Mamucod,” Sedanto told The STAR.
