Van bursts into flames in Muntinlupa

MANILA, Philippines - A van that carried the children of movie director Carlo Caparas suddenly burst into flames after it momentarily stopped along the toll booth in Filinvest, Barangay Alabang in Muntinlupa City yesterday morning.

Ivy Vidal, communications officer of the Skyway Corp. Operation and Maintenance Office, said the Dodge Ram (ULP-111) overheated after it suffered engine trouble around 6:50 a.m. The vehicle sustained serious damage particularly, the roofing and windshield. Vidal said the vehicle stopped at the booth to pay toll fee when the driver Joel Capellan sensed engine trouble. After Capellan and Caparas’ children CJ, 18, and Peach, 15, and some friends alighted from the vehicle, flames suddenly engulfed the van.
