Manila Water, BFP join forces for fire safety

-

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala-led Manila Water Co. Inc. and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) are working together to increase public awareness on fire prevention as part of observing Fire Safety Month this March.

To kick off the information campaign, a three-in-one drill covering safety practice, evacuation and rescue was spearheaded by Manila Water on March 2 at the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) offices at the Balara Compound in Quezon City. The goal of the exercise was to increase the preparedness level of employees within the MWSS complex in case of a major crisis or emergency.

Manila Water regularly conducts emergency drills and simulations as part of its business continuity program, aimed at ensuring uninterrupted service to its customers. This program comes with a full complement of water tankers, generator sets, emergency land and water vehicles and fully trained personnel.

Manila Water also conducts inspection of fire hydrants in the East Zone together with the BFP as part of its regular inspection protocol to ensure each one is in proper working condition.

As the concessionaire of MWSS, Manila Water provides water and wastewater services to 5.6 million people from 23 cities and municipalities of eastern Metro Manila and Rizal Province which include Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Taguig, Pateros and parts of Manila and Quezon City.
