Eat Bulaga co-host's son killed in fourth-floor fall

MANILA, Philippines - A son of “Eat Bulaga” co-host Toni Rose Gayda allegedly committed suicide yesterday by jumping off the fourth-floor balcony of a condominium building in Mandaluyong City.

According to Mandaluyong City police chief Senior Superintendent Carlos de Sagun, reports reaching them stated that James Edward Lim, 26, reportedly jumped off the balcony of the Pinnacle Residences on Wack-Wack Road at about 4:45 a.m.

Police said Lim was immediately rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City, where he was declared dead on arrival.

His death was logged in a police blotter several hours later despite repeated requests by relatives to have the incident kept under wraps, police said.

Police investigators said Lim’s relatives were uncooperative in their investigation of the alleged suicide.

Interviewed over radio station dzBB yesterday, Gayda said her son “accidentally” fell from the balcony while smoking. She said her son apparently lost his balance.

Lim’s family immediately had his remains cremated at the Funeraria Paz in Quezon City. – Non Alquitran, Marichu Villanueva
