Gibo invades Villar bailiwick

MANILA, Philippines - Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro brought his campus tour yesterday to Las Piñas City, the stomping grounds of Nacionalista Party (NP) presidential bet Manny Villar.

Teodoro, in a campus form at the Perpetual Help University, told students that they should first examine the track record, capability and integrity of each politician before they decide.

“Don’t believe in the promise of paradise of any politician because this will just redound to failed expectations on your part,” he said.

Teodoro said the country is facing enormous problems on nearly all fronts and the next administration cannot possibly address these concerns within the next six years.

He issued the same call while having a boodle fight with fisherfolk and local officials at Barangay Bayanan in Muntinlupa City.

His pronouncements were interpreted by the students and the Muntinlupa residents as a swipe at Villar, who promised to end the people’s poverty.

Teodoro said what his administration would offer is give every Filipino a chance to improve their lot in life, and it is up to them to use their “galing at talino (ability and intelligence)” to take on these challenges.

“Everybody has a vision but we have to be realistic,” he said. “I don’t say that I could end poverty but I could be an instrument (to help in) the country’s recovery. We must know the limit of government.”   – Jaime Laude
