MANILA, Philippines - The Malabon-Navotas female representative, who took her oath of office only in December last year, is focusing her few days in office to remedy the health needs of her constituents.
Rep. Josephine Veronique Lacson-Noel, with barely three months left before the May 10 elections, said that she is “racing against time” in trying to provide much needed medicines to all health centers in her district. She said that she understands how difficult it is, especially for her poor constituents, to acquire medicines and health services.
Noel had also filed a bill on Jan. 7, requesting for the “immediate construction” of a P50 million four-story hospital in Malabon City. Malabon has only a community hospital at its boundary with Caloocan on Dagat-Dagatan Avenue but aside from being ill-equipped, it serves mostly non-Malabon residents due to its location.
The proposed hospital would be constructed at the old city jail adjacent to the modern city hall building and the multi-million peso gymnasium.
The city jail would be transferred to Barangay Catmon, Noel said. She said that the health facility is her priority project in cooperation with the office of Mayor Canuto Oreta. – Pete Laude
