Spurned suitor goes on hacking spree: 1 dead, 2 hurt
MANILA, Philippines - A tricycle driver hacked a 64-year-old woman to death in Muntinlupa City at dawn yesterday after the woman’s daughter rejected him.
Fe de Vera, of Katarungan Village, died on the spot after sustaining hack wounds in the face and neck.
Police Officer 3 Raymond Siman said the suspect, identified only as “Norman,” also attacked the woman’s daughter, Love Joy, and her nine-year-old son, Eric Jeff. They were reported to be in critical condition at the Medical Center of Muntinlupa.
Police said Norman fled on foot after attacking the victims.
According to a police report, Norman had been courting Love Joy and was a frequent visitor at the victims’ house.
Love Joy spurned Norman Monday night, but the victims allowed Norman to sleep in their house since it was already late. As the victims were sleeping, Norman used a bolo to attack them.
The commotion caught the attention of the victims’ neighbors, who rushed to the house and brought the victims to the hospital.
