Quezon City, Caloocan move to conserve water

-

MANILA, Philippines - The local governments of Caloocan and Quezon City are implementing measures to conserve water in the face of the El Niño weather phenomenon, characterized by the lack of rainfall.

Quezon City Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista said village officials and employees will be tapped to report leaking pipes.

“Even the residents should be enjoined to report to their village officials about leakages in their pipes so that the village officials will be the ones to report these to Maynilad and Manila Water,” he said.

In Caloocan, Mayor Enrico Echiverri is asking residents to be “mindful” in using water.

He also urged the local business establishments, particularly restaurants and fast food chains, to do their share in conserving water by providing customers with drinking water “only by request.”  – Reinir Padua, Pete Laude
