Man dies trying to satisfy wife's mango craving

-

MANILA, Philippines - A man died trying to climb a mango tree to satisfy his pregnant wife’s craving for the fruit Saturday afternoon in Quezon City.

Police believe security guard Donato Caranguian, 33, may have been electrocuted by cables hanging near the tree and had his skull fractured when he fell.

Police Officer 3 Pascual Fabreag said the incident happened at past 4 p.m. in Barangay Manresa.

Fabreag said the Caranguian couple resides in Barangay Tatalon but Donato went all the way to Barangay Manresa just to pick fruits for his pregnant wife.

Housekeeper Ana Liza Ibas, 43, told policemen she saw Donato climbing up a mango tree outside her employer’s house.

She later heard a loud thud and saw Donato lying lifeless on the pavement. She called up village watchmen, who in turn informed the police about the incident. – Reinir Padua
