Man stabbed dead by brother-in-law
MANILA, Philippines - A man died after being stabbed by his brother-in-law late Saturday night in Quezon City over an unpaid electric bill of the victim’s step-daughter.
Welder Efren Sales, 38, of Tondo, Manila, died on the spot from multiple stab wounds in the cheek, chest and back. Chief Inspector Benjamin Elenzano, head of the Homicide Investigation Section of the Quezon City Police District, said they are now on a manhunt against the alleged assailant who was identified as Sales’ brother-in-law Wennie Malvin, 30.
The attack happened at past 11 p.m. Saturday inside the suspect’s house in Parkway Village, Barangay Apolonio Samson. Elenzano said the victim’s step-daughter, Irene Enriquez, claimed the two men were drinking beer at the suspect’s house when the suspect reminded the victim about the electric bills he incurred months back. Already drunk, the suspect asked for the payment for portions of the bill, reasoning that Enriquez had been staying with Malvin during that time.
A heated argument erupted when Sales told the suspect that he should no longer be asking for the payment since it happened months ago. Enriquez told police that she tried pacifying the two men but was ignored.
Enriquez sought help from neighbors but found the suspect gone and her step-father lifeless and lying in the pool of his own blood when she came back. – Reinir Padua
