MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently filed murder charges against a businessman and his son for allegedly killing their upstairs neighbor on Nov. 21, 2009 after his urine seeped through the floor and dripped onto the sleeping businessman.
According to the NBI-Special Task Force’s report, released yesterday, Rolly Contemplo was drunk and urinated in a mineral water bottle that tipped over and spilled its contents on the floor of his second-story unit on Felix Huertas street in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The urine went through the ceiling of the first-floor unit where Noel Cayabyab and his son, John Paul, were sleeping. The liquid dripped onto Noel, who went upstairs and shouted at Contemplo. The victim, a friend of the suspects, apologized and said it was an accident.
A witness said Noel went downstairs and Contemplo followed him to apologize again. Noel did not accept his apology and told his son to get his gun. John Paul obeyed his father, and Noel reportedly shot the victim in the abdomen at around 3:20 a.m., according to the NBI report.
The case against the Cayabyabs stemmed from a complaint filed by Lael Morada. Contemplo was a nephew of Morada.
