MANILA, Philippines - National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents recently seized nearly P16 million worth of fake Crocs footwear during simultaneous raids on several establishments in Metro Manila.
In a report, Special Investigator III Glenn Lacaran of the NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) said they raided stores in Binondo and shopping centers in San Juan and Mandaluyong City and confiscated 6,369 fake Crocs shoes, slippers and other products worth about P15.9 million.
The NBI agents were armed with search warrants issued by Judge Antonio Eugenio of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 24.
The raids were conducted after Crocs Inc., through its legal counsel Raymond Roland Reyes, of Reyes Cabrera Rojas & Associates, filed a complaint before the NBI.
The owners and operators of the raided establishments are facing charges of violating Republic Act 8293, the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. – Sandy Araneta
