Student hangs self after breakup

MANILA, Philippines – A student reportedly hanged himself in his rented apartment in Cubao, Quezon City yesterday after breaking up with his lover.

Adrian Solomon Olympia, 22, was found by the stairs with an antenna cable looped around his neck by his roommate, Frances Grace Mortel, when she came home from work at 6:30 a.m. yesterday.

Mortel, 22, an art teacher, shares the apartment with Olympia. She told police that Olympia, a self-confessed homosexual, broke up with his boyfriend the previous day.  

She also said the victim was having financial troubles and wanted to transfer to another school.

Chief Inspector Benjamin Elenzano, Quezon City police investigation chief, said they rule the incident as a suicide, unless autopsy results reveal otherwise. – Jerry Botial
