MANILA, Philippines - A daughter of former agrarian reform secretary Philip Juico was shot at and robbed of P40,000 as she was about to park her vehicle at their house in Barangay Paraiso, Quezon City yesterday morning.
Chief Inspector Benjamin Elenzano, the Quezon City Police District’s homicide chief, said Leny Marie Juico, 26, had just withdrawn cash from an automated teller machine along West Avenue and returned home. She said she noticed a man on a motorcycle tailing her.
As she waited for the gates of her house to be opened at around 9 a.m., the man got off the motorcycle and knocked on the passenger side window of the car. The man then shot at the window, but did not hit Juico.
When the glass shattered, the man grabbed Juico’s bag, which held the money, and fled. No one managed to take note of the motorcycle’s plates. – Reinir Padua
