SWS confirms Bautista, Belmonte top Quezon City survey
MANILA, Philippines - The Social Weather Stations (SWS) confirmed yesterday the accuracy of a recent survey showing that the tandem of Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista and Joy Belmonte topped its recent survey for mayor and vice mayor of Quezon City.
The SWS survey, conducted from Dec. 16 to 19, 2009, was commissioned by a certain Giovanni Estrada.
Bautista led the list of mayoralty candidates with 75 percent, followed by Rep. Mary Ann Susano with nine percent; former presidential management staff chief Michael Defensor, six percent; former Quezon City mayor Ismael Mathay Jr., five percent; and Antonio Inton, three percent. Three percent of the respondents could not identify a particular candidate they want, the SWS said.
For vice mayor, Belmonte garnered 60 percent; Babes Malaya, 19 percent; and actress Aiko Melendez got 17 percent. Three percent of the respondents could not identify a particular candidate for vice mayor while one percent said they “don’t know.”
The survey used face-to-face interviews of 500 registered voters and has sampling error margins of plus or minus four percentage points for Quezon City, plus or minus 10 percentage points each for Districts 1, 3 and 4, and plus or minus seven percentage points for District 2, at the 95 percent confidence level. – Helen Flores
